Join the Student Accounts team for a step-by-step overview of how to view and pay your student bill. We’ll cover how to access the billing portal, payment options, important deadlines, and tips to avoid common issues. Time will be reserved at the end for live questions.

Finalizing Financial AidWednesday, July 8

Incoming students and families are invited to join the Office of Financial Aid for an important session designed to make sure you have confidently transitioned from financial aid offer to solid action plan.  

Topics covered will include a review of important dates and reminders, how to apply for different types of loans, gap financing options, and other important resources to be aware of as we get closer to fall semester. The session will conclude with an open Q&A.

Starting college is an exciting milestone—and a significant transition for both students and their families. In this session, we’ll explore the six key areas that shape the first-year experience, including academic expectations, social connections, emotional well-being, and more. You’ll gain insight into how the University of Portland supports students through each stage, as well as concrete strategies to help you partner in your student’s success. Our goal is to equip you with knowledge and reassurance as your student grows into independence and discovers their path.
From High School to UP: What Changes in Writing (and How Tutoring Can Help)Tuesday, August 11

College writing can feel like a big shift from high school—but no one has to figure it out alone. That’s where Co-Pilots (tutors) come in! At UP’s Learning Commons, Co-Pilots support students in every discipline, from writing assignments to study strategies and group work learning. 

Join us to meet the Learning Commons team, learn what really changes in college writing, and see how tutoring—because everybody needs a Co-Pilot—can help students thrive at UP!

CARE, Counseling, and Safety at UP

Before your student sets foot on The Bluff, know this: they’ll be supported every step of the way. This session brings together three of the University of Portland's most essential student support areas — CARE, Counseling, and Campus Safety — to give incoming students and their families a warm, honest, and hopeful introduction to how UP takes care of its Pilots.  

From mental health support to safety resources and student care referrals, families and students will leave feeling informed, reassured, and welcomed into a community that puts student wellbeing first. 

What We’ll Cover 

• CARE Team: How UP supports students facing personal, academic, or emotional challenges through compassionate, coordinated care.  

• University Counseling Center: Mental health resources, counseling services, and ways families can support students from afar.  

• Campus Safety: Key safety resources including UP Alert, Safe Ride, emergency phones, and 24/7 campus support.
